Excitement is building as the Stamford Centre Volunteer Firemen’s Association (SCVFA) prepares for its annual carnival at Firemen’s Park in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The popular community event will run from June 21-23, 2024, featuring rides, games, and entertainment for all ages.
The annual SCVFA carnival returns to Firemen’s Park this June, bringing family fun and community spirit to Niagara Falls.
This year’s carnival received a boost when Ribstock event organizer Tom Wilson announced a $5,000 donation to support the SCVFA’s fundraising efforts. Wilson, who runs the annual barbecue festival in nearby St. Catharines, said he wanted to support the important work the association does in the community.
“The SCVFA has been serving Niagara Falls since 1922,” Wilson told reporters. “Their carnival helps fund many worthwhile local causes.”
Founded over a century ago to provide fire protection for Stamford village, the SCVFA has evolved into a community service organization following the 1963 amalgamation. Today, they own and maintain the 135-acre Firemen’s Park, a wooded conservation area on the Bruce Trail.
The carnival serves as the association’s major fundraising event each year. Proceeds support local sports teams, educational bursaries, and various charities throughout the Niagara region. The SCVFA also provides financial relief for individual hardship cases.
“We’re grateful for this support,” said SCVFA President Maria Johnson. “Every donation helps us do more for our community.”
Carnival hours are Friday, June 21 from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Saturday, June 22 from noon to 11:00 PM, and Sunday, June 23 from noon to 5:00 PM. All-day ride passes will be available for $35. The carnival continues a long tradition of SCVFA community fundraising efforts that have supported the Niagara Falls area for decades.
In addition to rides and games, the event will feature nightly entertainment on the outdoor stage, food vendors, and family-friendly activities. The three-day schedule accommodates various attendance options for local residents.
Beyond the carnival, the SCVFA continues its community service through its facilities. After selling their old firehall, they built a new clubhouse/hall that’s available for public and private events.
Firemen’s Park remains open year-round for community use, maintaining a longstanding tradition in the Niagara Falls area.
