virgil stampede funding benefits hotels

A generous $100,000 pledge from the Virgil Business Association will soon enhance recreational opportunities for two local facilities. The funds, generated from Virgil Stampede proceeds, will be split evenly between Red Roof Retreat and Radiant Care’s Pleasant Manor Retirement Village. Each organization will receive $50,000 over the next two years to improve their facilities.

Red Roof Retreat plans to use their portion to develop walking trails and recreational spaces. These improvements will make outdoor activities more accessible for everyone. The new trails will encourage physical activity and connection with nature, supporting Red Roof’s mission to provide inclusive recreational opportunities.

Making nature accessible through trails where everyone can connect, move freely, and enjoy the outdoors together.

Pleasant Manor Retirement Village will direct their funds toward building a new fitness room. The space will be designed with senior residents in mind, focusing on health and mobility. The fitness room will accommodate physical therapy needs and improve the overall standard of living for retirees at the facility. The fitness room will be part of Pleasant Manor’s broader expansion that includes a new long-term care building planned for completion in 2026.

The Virgil Stampede, now entering its 57th year, is scheduled for May 17-19, 2025. Adult tickets cost $5, while children under 10 can attend for free. Ride bracelets are available for $35 if purchased early or $45 during the event. They’re valid daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets can be bought through the Front Door platform or at Phil’s Independent store.

This contribution continues the Stampede’s long tradition of supporting local projects. For over five decades, the event has funded community improvements throughout Virgil. Last year, proceeds supported the 3-Season Pavilion Upgrade Project at Virgil Sports Park.

If needed, the funding may draw from both 2025 and partial 2026 Stampede proceeds. This approach guarantees the full pledge can be fulfilled while maintaining financial flexibility. The investment directly benefits vulnerable populations and seniors while strengthening partnerships between local businesses and nonprofits.

Through these initiatives, the Virgil Business Association continues its commitment to grassroots development and meeting the evolving needs of the community.

Community investments like this show how local organizations can make a lasting difference through careful planning and collaboration. Supporting vulnerable groups strengthens the fabric of the entire region. Stay updated on more grassroots initiatives and community partnerships through Marketplace Niagara.
