bingemans new bowling attraction

Since opening its doors in 2013, Bingemans’ Kingpin Bowlounge has become a popular destination for bowling enthusiasts in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. The 33,863 square-foot venue marked the first new bowling facility in the region in nearly three decades, bringing fresh energy to the local entertainment scene.

The Kingpin Bowlounge features 28 state-of-the-art Brunswick bowling lanes with a modern computer scoring system. Its design includes a widespan structural system with slender columns placed every 25 feet, creating an open concept with excellent sight lines for all visitors. The facility was designed as a tri-level addition to the existing FunworX indoor playland at the Bingemans entertainment complex.

Construction of the venue was completed in just seven months, requiring close collaboration between Melloul-Blamey Construction and ABA Architects. The team held weekly meetings to guarantee they met the tight timeframe. The building was turned 30 degrees away from existing structures and uses a flat roof membrane to join MR-24 roof systems. The project faced unique challenges as crews had to install an underground hydronic heating system to thaw the ground for the floor slab during winter construction.

The bowling center offers a comfortable environment with plenty of natural light. It includes an event space on the mezzanine level that overlooks the bowling lanes, an enclosed area on the second floor for additional events, and a 5,000-square-foot outdoor patio for group entertaining. A Boston Pizza franchise restaurant is also located inside the venue.

Kingpin Bowlounge has received recognition for its excellence, winning the Bowlers Journal International Award for Best New Center. It’s known for hosting leagues and tournaments that attract both amateur and professional bowlers.

The facility recently introduced SPARK augmented reality bowling in its 8-lane VIP room, an industry first in Ontario. This technology, along with huge screens and a variety of craft brews and cocktails, enhances the bowling experience.

Hourly rates for up to six people range from $39.95 to $49.95, with different pricing for weekdays, weekends, and peak hours. The Kingpin Bowlounge is open seven days a week with extended weekend hours, making it an accessible entertainment option in the Kitchener-Waterloo area.
